Obama: From “transparent” to opaque

October 27, 2009 by Allen Greer · Leave a Comment

Two of Barack Obama’s most incredible and indefensible lies are coming full circle to reap insurmountable damage on his administration. One, the President promised a transparent administration, that leaves its door open to Americans curious about government proceedings. Two, the President promised (multiple times) that congressional health care debates would be aired live on C Span, for all to see.

Neither of these proclamations came to fruition. In fact, it can be argued that Obama’s transparency has rapidly transitioned to opaque.

Lie #1:

“Let me say it as simply as I can: transparency and the rule of law will be the touchstones of this presidency,”

John Podesta, the leader of Obama’s transition team, said Obama’s would be “the most open and transparent transition in history.”

Lie #2

“These negotiations will be on C Span, so the public will be part of the conversation and will see what choices are being made,”

The above statement regarding health care reform was made by President Obama during a televised interview with the San Francisco Chronicle. The video below details not only this statement, but many additional promises to conduct open and bi-partisan health care negotiations.

Americans should feel short changed, as they voted for a man who is doing the polar opposite of what he promised to do on the most important policies of his campaign and presidency. Why isn’t the mainstream media demanding the transparancy promised early in 2009? Ah, yes, because they were responsible for getting Obama elected, and must keep all criticism behind closed doors.
