Obama Green Jobs Czar: Van Jones tied to radical communism
September 3, 2009 by Allen Greer
Who is Van Jones?
Van Jones, Obama’s newly appointed Green Jobs Czar, is perhaps the most controversial Obama acquaintance called into question. Jones is a self proclaimed radical communist, who did a bid in prison for his involvement in the Rodney King riots, and has blamed 9/11 on “U.S. imperialism”.
“If the mostly white global warming activists would join forces with people of color, the U.S. can avoid both an eco-apocalypse and an eco-apartheid, and acheive eco-equity” – Van Jones
Jones often speaks of the need for revolution, and feels we owe Native Americans “wealth” to repay the “debt” we owe them. His views are extreme and his ideology is dangerous. For example, Jones once led a fight against Proposition 21, a ballot initiative that sought to increase penalties for violent crimes and require more juvenile offenders to be tried as adults
Fact or Fiction?
Recently, Glen Beck of the Fox News network, has viciously attacked Van Jones for his ties to radical communism. The liberal left is trying to mask his past, claiming conservatives like Beck have fabricated the notion that Jones is a communist. While Beck is obviously not the most trustworthy individual, he has some valid arguments.
As Beck factually points out, Jones is tied to the Apollo Alliance – a group who’s NYC leader co-founded the Weather Underground with Bill Ayers, and Cop Watch -a group responsible for the “Free Mumia” movement (in reference to convicted cop killer Mumia Abu-Jamal).
“Indian killing Teddy Roosevelt set the enduring pattern for most conservationist’s radical politics. Let’s preserve the land we stole” – Van Jones
A Radical Past
In the reference manual created for a group Jones founded –Standing Together to Organize a Revolutionary Movement, or STORM – he had this to say, “We agreed with Lenin’s analysis of the state and the party,” reads the manifesto. “And we found inspiration in the revolutionary strategies developed by Third World revolutionaries like Mao Tse-tung and Amilcar Cabral.”
While speaking of his introduction to radical communism –“I met all these young radical people of color – I mean really radical: communists and anarchists. And it was, like, ‘This is what I need to be a part of.’ I spent the next 10 years of my life working with a lot of those people I met in jail, trying to be a revolutionary”
Has Jones miraculously morphed into an eco-freak, who is passionate about green? Or is he a closet communist with a much different agenda? A person such as Jones must be scrutinized for ethical soundness, and should be thoroughly questioned in public regarding his past actions and words. Additionally, the President, who hand-picked Jones, has shown a lack of judgment and respect for the American people by passing off connections with the likes of Bill Ayers and Rev. Jeremiah Wright as inconsequential.
A person’s friends say a lot about his/her character.
